I`m not usually after a campaign i can finish quickly when playing strategy games, and the only ace in the sleeve the AI has, is that it can actually challenge me in battles. In battles the AI is much better than the vanilla version. I can barely manage to win on VH in vanilla, but i have control over 20 provinces in my first legendary campaign in DM, the war is currently in a stalemate, as the AI allies are throwing everything they got at me, leading to tons of epic battles.Īnd that`s why i love DM, the battles are much more satisfying, much bigger and the slower pace makes it feel more realistic. With the increased income turned on, its basically easy-mode even in legendary, because the AI can`t cope with a human player that can field alot of armies and fleets. it doesn`t feel as satisfying to win a battle when you`re a huge underdog when the victory is called pyrrhic. Darthmod has several issues concerning what it judges as heroic victories and pyrrhic victories. In some aspects i feel the AI becomes even stupider, it aimlessly ignores cities and landmarks turn after turn after an invasion, taking attrition, agent and bombardment losses.Īlso the AI doesn`t become more "reasonable" in diplomacy, the biggest let-down for me.

The AI does extremely stupid things, like spreading their entire fleet out in small single-boat raiding parties that can never actually challenge my naval superiority. I don´t feel it makes the campaign AI any noticeable smarter, and i never get help from allies. I installed darthmod for NTW and never looked back. As for cavalry you know you can have them reinforce from the outside the settlement? You can also disable the garrisons as well if you want. As for siege battles you have a option to leave the normal sizes in the launcher so you can avoid the clutter in those siege battles. There are others which i cant remember directly but in the end vanilla seems to be the best.Ĭouple things on this one refer to my other comment on the battle length. It also meant defending my provinces was very easy. If the odds were in my favour then just autoresolve and if it was close then i would just starve them out. The garrisons meant i didnt play a single siege as the attacker as there was no point. Also my cav couldnt get out the castle gates.

The increased unit sizes made sieges a nightmare, it was so clustered and your units felt very hard to manuver.

Long battles feel like a chore, the campaigns are already long enough without extra time for battles.
